Montalban's hideout can be typically anywhere in (modern day) Mexico or Panama

Monty is usually located in one of these places (in order of probability):
1) North of Vera Cruz,
2) near Villa Hermosa,
3) On the south or southwest coast of Bay of Honduras,
4) the East Coast of Mexico south of modern day Cancun or in Belize.

look for seamarks on the coast
The game often has several landmarks with the same name

Even though they're not on the map they will guide you to Lost Cities and Montalban's Hideout.

It's trial and error when there are more than one in the area. Drop anchor, head inland a bit, and if you see an Arch Rock, Deserted Cabin, Stone Head or Indian Totem you're in the right area. If all you see are geysers and dead trees you're not in the right area. This works well with 1 or 2 map pieces as well.

Another trick is to try to walk through the geysers and dead trees. If you can walk right through them, you are not in the area represented by the map.

Geysers are randomly spread around so not reliable as markers.
Use telescope both while sailing and on land.

coastlines in purple are the likely culprits for Lost Cities &
often Montalban's hideout

waters highlighted in red are the most frequent areas to find named pirates.

Map uses the Traditional Nation colors

Dutch - Orange
England - Red
France - Blue
Spain - yellow

Generic help for where is any of the Lost cities or Named pirates
located.

**Plot Overview** The story revolves around Hart, a young man who has been raised by his eccentric and reclusive grandmother, Miss Hawthorne. Hart's life is turned upside down when he meets Mercy, a free-spirited and beautiful young woman who is struggling to come to terms with her own troubled past. As they navigate their complicated relationships with each other and those around them, Hart and Mercy must confront the dark secrets that have haunted them for so long. Throughout the novel, Marchetta skillfully weaves together multiple storylines, exploring themes of love, loss, family, and redemption. The narrative is layered with complexity, as the characters grapple with their own demons and confront the consequences of their actions. **Character Analysis** One of the standout aspects of The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy is its well-developed and relatable characters. Hart, the protagonist, is a complex and flawed individual, struggling to find his place in the world. His relationship with Mercy is multifaceted, and their interactions are often fraught with tension and uncertainty. Mercy, on the other hand, is a enigmatic and intriguing character, with a rich backstory that is gradually revealed throughout the novel. Her struggles with her past and her relationships with those around her make her a deeply human and sympathetic character. The supporting cast of characters is equally well-crafted, with each one adding depth and nuance to the narrative. From Hart's eccentric grandmother to Mercy's troubled family members, every character plays a significant role in shaping the story and its themes. **Themes and Symbolism** The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy explores a range of thought-provoking themes, including: * **Love and relationships**: The novel examines the complexities of love, relationships, and human connection. Hart and Mercy's relationship is at the forefront of the story, but Marchetta also explores the relationships between other characters, highlighting the ways in which people can both hurt and heal each other. * **Trauma and recovery**: Both Hart and Mercy have experienced trauma in their pasts, and the novel explores their journeys towards healing and recovery. Marchetta handles these themes with sensitivity and nuance, avoiding simplistic or trite portrayals of trauma and recovery. * **Family and identity**: The novel explores the ways in which family and upbringing shape our identities and inform our relationships with others. Hart's complicated relationship with his grandmother and Mercy's troubled family history are just two examples of the ways in which family dynamics can impact our lives. **Why Read The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy?** So, why should you read The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy? Here are just a few reasons: * **Unique storytelling**: Marchetta's writing style is engaging and evocative, with a narrative that is both complex and compelling. * **Well-developed characters**: The characters in The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy are multidimensional and relatable, making it easy to become invested in their stories. * **Thought-provoking themes**: The novel explores a range of thought-provoking themes, from love and relationships to trauma and recovery. In conclusion, The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy is a gripping and emotionally charged novel that will resonate with readers. With its complex characters, layered narrative, and thought-provoking themes, this book is a must-read for anyone who enjoys literary fiction. Montalban's hideout is literally impossible to find

Many things in that vicinity are hard to find, such as the Lost Civilizations.

One trick I've learned recently might be useful. When you first anchor, look around to see if there are any landmarks, and if you don't, scoot.

If you do, walk into one. Serious. If you walk through it, scoot. "Real" landmarks are solid. Others are "mirages".

If you can't walk through it, then start looking around for the next landmark. Try to walk through it, and if you do, go back to the previous landmark and try another direction.
